Honeywell BW Single Gas Detectors & BW Multi Gas Detectors
Gas detectors measure or monitor the depletion of combustible gases, toxic gases, and oxygen within an area as part of a safety system. These detectors typically sound an alarm and are deployed in confined spaces, or in areas where exposure to such gas could lead to toxic exposure or fire risk.
The Honeywell BW Clip single-gas detector is the most user-friendly, reliable, and cost-effective way to ensure safety, compliance, and productivity in hazardous environments. It operates up to three years maintenance-free: Just turn on the device and it runs continuously — no need for calibration, sensor replacement, battery replacement, or battery charging. The BW Clip automatically logs the 35 most recent gas events and bump test results.
Portable multi gas detectors can monitor from 1 up to 7 gases at the same time. These are compact devices with multiple functionalities like data recording (of gas concentrations), exposure limit value (ELV) and occupational exposure limit value (OEL) on the display, or real time trend curve display for example.
Based on needs and applications, the device will be able to monitor up to 7 gases with a large range of gas sensors: catalytic bead sensor for explosive gases, infrared for CO2 and certain flammable gases or electrochemical sensors for toxic and / or asphyxiating gases.

FAQs About BW Gas Detectors
What Are Gas Detectors?
A gas detector is a device that detects the presence of gases in an area, often as part of a safety system. A gas detector can sound an alarm to operators in the area where the leak is occurring, giving them the opportunity to leave. This type of device is important because there are many gases that can be harmful to organic life, such as humans or animals.
Gas detectors can be used to detect combustible, flammable and toxic gases, and oxygen depletion. This type of device is used widely in industry and can be found in locations, such as on oil rigs, to monitor manufacturing processes and emerging technologies such as photovoltaic. They may be used in firefighting.A gas detector is a device that detects the presence of gases in an area, often as part of a safety system. How Many Types Of Gas Detectors Are There?
Essentially, these various types of gas detectors fall into two categories: portable and fixed. Portable gas detectors are typically handheld or worn on safety equipment and used to monitor personnel’s atmosphere. Portable gas detectors often emit warnings with audible and visual signals when dangerous levels of gases are detected.
Fixed gas detectors are monitoring systems that are generally mounted near the process area of a plant or control room, or in an area that requires protection, such as underground car parks. Fixed gas detectors will typically make both visual and audible warnings when hazardous gases are detected and monitor the levels of more than one specific gas.Essentially, these various types of gas detectors fall into two categories: portable and fixed. When Is Gas Detection Required?
Detection is performed to identify the presence of a flammable gas prior to the performance of hot work or confined space entry.Flammable gas is usually measured in %LEL, which stands for the lower explosive limit of the gas used to calibrate the instrument (usually methane). A reading of 100% LEL is the lowest concentration of methane gas in air that will support combustion (allowing a fire or explosion to occur).
Although detectors are calibrated to methane (for example), they will also detect other flammable gases. As all flammable gases have different lower explosive limits, a reading of 100% LEL may not be the lowest point at which combustion will be supported when measuring another gas. This is why most gas detectors will alarm at 10% LEL (allowing for a safety factor).Detection is performed to identify the presence of a flammable gas prior to the performance of hot work or confined space entry.Flammable gas is usually measured in %LEL, which stands for the lower explosive limit of the gas used to calibrate the instrument (usually methane).
